For many years now, wet end potato starches have been used worldwide for paper manufacturing. Their performance in both retention and strength improvements have been unmatched until just recently. Today, production of potato starch is encountering several constraints in the areas of availability and costs.
To insure a stable supply of high performance cationic starch in the market, Roquette, the world leader, has developed a complete range of new cationic starches, branded under the HI-CAT® 5000 series.
This range, which includes many diverse products, covers not only all the cationicities that are necessary in the paper process, but also presents the facts on specific high retention as well as details on strength requirements.
Our new products are widely used for many different grades of paper, including printing and writing, office paper, coated paper, and multi-purpose paper, but also includes packaging paper like fluting, test liner, and Kraft liner, all based on new and recycled fibers.
The technical results obtained with these new HI-CAT® 5000 confirm that they are at least equivalent to potato-based cationics and often better.
